About Marie Kreft and Good As Gold

I have a first-class English degree from the University of Leeds, plus twenty years’ professional writing experience. I live in Birmingham, where I provide copywriting and content writing services to clients from all sectors - several of whom have stayed with me for years.

I love helping organisations to bring clarity, warmth and sparkle to their literature. I’m especially interested in helping:

• Responsible businesses to reach more customers

• Charities and socially conscious organisations to promote their causes

• Public-sector organisations to convey tricky topics in an accessible way.

Two talented, UK-based freelance writers support me with bigger projects. Their reliability and creativity expand Good As Gold’s capacity beyond anything I could achieve on my own.

I write for fun, as well as for work. In 2010 I won a national travel-writing competition and since then I’ve taken on occasional freelance commissions. I’m pleased to have bylines in the Independent, National Geographic and BBC Countryfile magazine, among other titles. I’ve published two editions of Slow Travel: Shropshire for Bradt Travel Guides, and I’m working on the third. You can read my personal work here.

I’m lucky to have two young sons, so I don’t have as much time to give back to the world as I hope one day to do. However, I am a volunteer coach for Read Easy UK, working one-to-one with adults to boost their literacy skills. It’s a joy to be able to help.
