Editorial support for the Sandwell Business Ambassadors

Between 2019 and 2024 I supported Sandwell Council with the Sandwell Business Ambassadors: a collective of high-profile local businesspeople who act as ‘critical friends’ to the council and represent Sandwell’s business community. As well as attending their monthly meetings (including with cabinet members) and managing the Ambassadors’ PR and social media, I wrote dozens of news stories for their website and helped to develop their key messages about responsible business practices and community wealth building. This contract ended due to organisational changes and budget cuts within Sandwell Council. I remain on excellent terms with the Ambassadors and the Sandwell Business Growth Team.

Here’s the final news story I wrote for the Sandwell Business Ambassadors, about our visit to CBSO Shirelands Academy in West Bromwich - a school with a unique partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. This story, about a Sandwell Business Ambassador using their networks to get a broken church bell ringing again, was picked up by the Express & Star newspaper.

“As well as turning out impeccable copy, Marie is good at finding communication and digital solutions that fit within our time and budget constraints. She’s an upbeat, enthusiastic and caring person to work with and always goes above and beyond what we ask of her. She is one of the team"
